Used 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Review
The Used 2014 Chevrolet Silverado is a full-size pickup truck adept at serving as the weekday family car. Whether you are transporting home-improvement supplies, or towing a loaded trailer with a boat or snowmobile for a weekend getaway the Silverado is the truck for the job.
The Chevrolet Silverado is the 2014 North American Truck of the Year. The Silverado comes in three models for the 2014 year: the 1500, the premium Heavy Duty 2500HD and 3500HD. No matter which model you choose, it's hard to go wrong with a Silverado.
The redesigned 2014 Silverado 1500 has had its weight reduced by 250 pounds from the previous generation and has received revised suspension tuning for a smoother ride. New forward-hinged rear doors on the extended cab models are an improvement over earlier reverse-opening half-doors of previous models. Newly available safety features include a forward collision alert system, a lane departure warning system, and trailer sway control which increases the safety especially when hauling in cold weather conditions.
The exterior design retains the square-jawed, all-business look popular for the Silverado line and adds to it a massive new grille, revised bumpers and more sculpted styling down the side giving it a more modern aerodynamic look. The Silverado 1500 crew cab now offers a larger 6.5-foot cargo box with upgraded upholstery. The dash and door-panel materials integrate an 8-inch touchscreen display with MyLink and smartphone integration for the technologically minded. All models of Silverado can easily have a plow attachment placed in front of the massive new grille to help clear a path through snow drifts while you ride in comfort inside the cab.
The Used 2014 Chevy Silverado has a choice of several more fuel efficient engines including a more powerful V6. The 4.3 Liter V6 produces 285 horsepower and 305 pound-feet of torque and can tow up to 7,200 pounds. The 5.3-liter V8 produces 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, this engine can tow up to 11,500 pounds. The 6.2-liter V8 produces 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque with a maximum towing capacity of 12,000 pounds, so if you've got a boat to tow to a nearby lake check the weight to help decide which engine is right for you. The Silverado is available in a variety of cab/cargo-bed configurations in both two- and four-wheel drive. Body styles include regular cab which can be had with either a 6.5-foot standard bed or an 8-foot bed but are limited to the base Work Truck and mid-level LT trims, extended Double cab with the 6.5-foot standard bed and crew cab with either a 5.75-foot short bed or the 6.5-foot standard bed. Both the extended and crew cabs come in LS, LT, LTZ, High Country and off-road-oriented Z71 trims.
If you feel you'll need even more power the Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD bridges the 1500 light-duty pickup and the 3500HD ultra-heavy-duty workhorse with a maximum towing capacity of nearly 18,000 pounds. Comparably the 3500HD with diesel engine can tow up to 23,100 pounds. The 2500 has the option to use traditional gasoline or compressed natural gas (CNG), the natural gas tank is mounted in the bed and uses up about as much space as a large cross-bed tool box.
Silverado 1500 High Country
The High Country Silverado upgrades the top of the line LTZ model with more chrome and leather so you can do anything. High Country brings unique chrome 20-inch wheels, exclusive Saddle Brown premium perforated leather 12-way power-adjustable bucket seats with appointed heated and cooled front.
As well as Front and Rear Park Assist, Bose remium performance audio, an upgraded suspension, cargo box upper tie-down package, black recovery hook, and power-sliding rear window. Again, these features are in addition to all of the options available in the other trim levels making the High Country simply chock full of bells and whistles.
In all weather and all terrain the Silverado is a force to be reckoned with. No matter what size you decide 1500, 2500, or 3500, the Silverado is the truck that can get the whole family and all of their toys where they need to go in a reasonable amount of time.
