Four-door sedans might not be all the rage right now. But if we could show you a spacious car with cargo space that rivals many SUVs and has all the high-tech features you’ve come to rely on, would you bite? We’ll see in this guide to the 2019 Chevrolet Impala. This Chevy ticks every box on our must-have list and just might do the same for you.
Spacious and Comfortable
If you need space to stretch your legs, the Impala has you covered. This is an adult-friendly sedan, endowed with both a large front and back seat. No matter how tall you are, you’ll probably be able to sit in any of the Impala’s five seats. The elbow room will be all yours. And those supportive seats will wrap you in comfort. Also, did we mention how nice the Impala’s cabin is? If we didn’t know better, we’d have thought this was a luxury car, especially on those upper trim levels.
Cargo Space in Spades
While we’re on the subject of spacious accommodations, let’s circle round back and open the trunk. There’s 18.8 cubic feet in there for your stuff. While that’s not the class leader, the Impala beats out many of its rivals, including the Avalon and LaCrosse. Theoretically, that space is sufficient for 47 grocery bags. Just don’t crush the eggs and bread.
What we love about the Impala is how decked out this full-size car is with tech features. The standard features alone include rearview camera, 8-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, three USB ports, six-speaker stereo, satellite radio, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Wi-Fi hot spot, cloth seats, eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat, proximity key entry, and push-button start. And that’s just the base trim level.
If you’re into high-tech entertainment, the best for your buck is the Entertainment package on the LT trim level. There you get navigation, an 11-speaker Bose surround-sound system, and a 120-volt power outlet. Or just get the Premier trim, where all those features (and many others!) come standard.
Above-Average Fuel Economy
The 2019 Chevy Impala gets 22 city and 29 highway miles per gallon. That puts the Impala squarely in the upper half of the large car’s fuel economy bracket. For something this big, having decent gas mileage is an important consideration. Because, let’s face it, that’s a lot of metal to haul.
Great Optional Engine
The base engine on the 2019 Chevy Impala is a capable 175-horsepower inline-4. This powerhouse will get you from here to there, but probably won’t inspire. That’s the job of the optional 305-horsepower V6 engine, good for 264 pound-feet of torque. If you want a quiet composed ride and nothing more, the base engine should do you fine. If you want superior acceleration and power at your disposal, that V6 looks pretty good.
